Spring Byington starred in December Bride as Lily Ruskin, a widow. The sitcom featured Frances Rafferty and Dean Miller as Ruskin’s married daughter, Ruth, and son-in-law, Matt, who were trying to pair Ruskin with suitable suitors. The TV program also starred Verna Felton and Harry Morgan as Verna Felton and Harry Morgan.
Because of its popularity, December Bride led to a 1960 spinoff, Pete and Gladys, with Morgan playing the lead role.
